Overview

For close to 20 years I have worked on hundreds of projects across the world, working for a number of different studios and agencies in both the UK and Canada. I have currently been running JJD Works as a small studio since 2010 and then before that working in numerous established advertising agencies, print & design studios in London’s Mayfair and Farringdon districts and as freelance.

After completing a couple of graphic arts and printing degrees at technical schools in my hometown of Vancouver, Canada, I entered the creative industry in working in a number of different roles. The first was through the actual printing industry, working at an established printer in central Vancouver. Working with offset and digital presses, developing plates as well as working in the bindery I got first hand experience of the process of printing that would inform my own creative design work.

At the same time I was sought out through my activities in the local Vancouver music scene at the time. Being one of the few people with a Mac computer (it was the late nineties here!) and a knowledge of print layout software, my first paid design jobs were designing posters and flyers for local shows as well as print packaging for CDs and vinyl LPs for the local bands at the time. Some of these bands even achieved a bit of a name for themselves!
